    Salads are always wonderful and creative, and great wine selection. Highly recommend the duck egg rolls and brie and spinach dip appetizers.

    We tried this place with a Groupon and had an overall favorable experience. The staff were very nice. The restaurant was quaint but, given that it is in a historic area with an older building with older windows, it was very drafty. We went on a cold night and were seated by the windows and we were freezing. Most of the food was awesome, and my boyfriend is a bit of a food snob. The crab cakes were good, but I felt they could have been a bit larger for the price. The Monica Salad was also good, but I was very disappointed with the amount of salad that came out for $7. The stars of the show were the entrees. I ordered the Crab-Encrusted Trout and, while I didn't really notice any crab, it was AMAZING. I am not even normally a fish fan (no idea why it called my name then, but it did), but this was mouth-watering! The flavor was spectacular, just the right amount of breading to add some texture but not be overwhelming, the fish was flaky...we both absolutely loved it. My boyfriend ordered the Lamb dish and loved it as well. The lamb was cooked perfectly. We both felt you got good portion sizes with the entrees. We went with the Bananas Foster for dessert and it was a nice presentation watching them make it in front of us. The heat from the skillet was nice, too, because we were so chilly! Overall, a very good experience! We would happily eat here again.

    Good food and atmosphere, just OK service. We went here for my wife's birthday. I made an online reservation and noted this in the Notes section while making the reservation. I made an early reservation for 5:45 since it was a Friday, I figured we'd get more personal service if the restaurant wasn't as busy. We were promptly greeted and seated. The server came by got our drink order (we ordered a bottle of wine). She opened and poured our first glass and after that, i ended up having to pour our wine as she never came back to do it. This was surprising since it was early and the restaurant was not busy at all. One group was in the vault and there were 2-3 other tables with small groups of 2-3 people. This is the first time this has ever happened at any restaurant where i order a bottle of wine. Our food also seemed to take long to get served. Again, given the restaurant wasn't busy, it was frustrating to have a longer wait for the food. The food itself was good, I had a steak and my wife had the daily fish special. I expected maybe my wife would be brought a dessert for her birthday, as is done at most restaurants when you tell them you're celebrating a special occasion. But this didn't happen so I ordered a dessert for us to share. I was surprised there was no acknowledgement of her birthday the entire time we were there. If this had been just another day that we stopped in for dinner, the rating might have been higher as it would have been good for a non special occasion dinner, with the exception of the wine.

    Based on the name I would guess that this restaurant is more of a burger joint rather than an "upscale" Italian-type place. They had live music, which was cool, but I could barely carry on a conversation with my wife due to the noise level. This restaurant is way too small for live music, and the way it's laid out, it's not like we could sit and enjoy watching the band due to the booth walls blocking the view from almost every seat. The food was expensive, but it was very good. They had a pretty good wine selection. I just wasn't impressed with the atmosphere or the expectation based on the name walking in.

    It was a great birthday dinner. Main Street Grille is certainly the best fancy dining in Round Rock and it did not disappoint this time. My wife had the New York Strip and I had the Halibut special. Both were perfectly prepared. We had a bottle of Chilean Carmenere from their well appointed list. As we were an early reservation we got to eat in the bank vault--a special treat. Our only caveat--the Shrimp Diablo appetizer was a bit over done. For a special experience, have the Nuts and Berries after dinner cocktail--Good stuff.

    Absolutely love this place. The "Monica's Salad" is the stuff dreams are made of! (Crisp romaine lettuce, baby spinach, radicchio, fresh strawberries, blue cheese crumbles and sugar roasted pecans. Served with a maple balsamic vinaigrette on the side) Seriously....my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The balsamic vinaigrette reduction is thick and sweet, and so delicious. Get the beef tenderloin - it is amazing. But the salad with beef tenderloin it is $16. Yes, $16. A $16 salad should be illegal. We've tried a couple of other dishes, which were good, but were way overpriced. They have a groupon running right now, which makes it a much more affordable option for date night. Hopefully they'll realize that they need to lower their prices a bit to increase their business! I know I'd be a regular, least. :)

    We went here for our anniversary Friday night and were not disappointed. The intimate setting with live music (jazz duo) had us needing to remind ourselves we were in Round Rock. The crab & brie appetizer, Poisson Des Saints (chose the fresh redfish), and Filet Elizabeth were all excellent. On the filet, the amount of Gorgonzola was a bit overpowering but it was easily dispatched to the plate, and the meat's velvety texture was allowed to better be appreciated. The fried polenta ball that came with the filet was also addictive. We didn't love the creamy basil soup, the tomato had a heavy roasted flavor and not much else. Overall a great experience. Definitely will be going back again.

    Went here twice with Groupons because the reviews looked good. The food was bad both times we went. In our opinion there are a million better choices for dinner. On our first visit I had the strawberry salad and my husband had a steak. The salad came with a delicious dressing but everything else was mediocre. The chicken on top looked like and tasted like rubber. My husband said the steak was just okay. We did have the ice cream in a pastry dessert which took a long time to come out but it was tasty. Our second visit we started with the brie appetizer and then went with pasta and were disappointed again. He had the alfredo and I had the gnocchi. I think the alfredo was better. Both were ordered with chicken and again it was very poor quality. I should also note that our server told us that the establishment is having issues with their water filtration system. He mentioned this after we had to send our water back because it tasted like dirty salt. The staff and atmosphere are fine but the food is probably some of the worst we have had at a restaurant. After two visits, we will not be returning for a third.

    I have consistently gotten great service and excellent food the several times I have eaten here for lunch. I can't get past the Monica salad--I just love it! Added the beef tenderloin (medium rare) the past two times, and I am craving this and will be coming back for sure. Ate in the vault today and had a great experience with friends celebrating a birthday. Our waiter was top notch. Also shared the Round Rock Donut bread pudding. It was a shame we let most of this go to waste, but I think we were all being too modest. I would have finished it myself except for the fact that it would have been awkward in front of my friends.

    My husband took me to Main Street Grill on our anniversary. Admittedly, we had originally planned to go to a different restaurant, but it was closed and we went to Main Street Grill on our anniversary last year and loved it. Our server both times was Ryan - yep, he is that awesome...I remembered him from a year ago and how fabulous he was and nothing changed this time around. He is polite and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is already lovely, but he adds to it with the way he treats guests. The food: I suggested that my husband get the Gnocchi Della Nona, which he was apprehensive about, but ended up loving it. My husband is usually very proper, but I swear, he loved his dish so much he didn't even inhale...he scarfed it down like a starved lion on an antelope. We both had a bowl of the tomato basil soup, which was divine! I am used the the La Madeline tomato basil, but this soup was so so good. It was different than any other tomato basil soup I have had, but in a good way. It was complex and rich. We had intended to order only one bowl, but Ryan had misheard us and brought us 2, when we explained the mix up, he comped us one of the bowls...he really didn't have to, but that was a really nice touch. I am currently recovering from upper and lower jaw surgery, so I could only have liquids or soft foods, so I had a bowl of the bleu cheese mashed potatoes on the side. I thought that the bleu cheese was going to be slight...something probably not noticeable. Boy was I wrong - the bleu cheese was abundant, but not too abundant. It hit and perfectly complimented the creamy mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had the Dorda Crème Bruleè with a shot of Dorda on the side along with two snifters of warmed Grand Marnier. The presentation was so beautiful I almost didn't want to touch it. The Crème Bruleè was so good I wanted a mountain of it, I have never had such decadent Crème Bruleè before. The shot of Dorda was the perfect touch to go with it. We left fat and happy and our wallets were left in tact. This restaurant is well priced, the food is all delicious, and the service is impeccable.

    Fantastic. Went with my wife, 7 and 5 year olds, and my father in-law. The filet with shrimp was delicious. Blue cheese mashed potatoes were awesome. Definitely a really nice restaurant for a special occasion.

    I love lunch here with colleagues. Service is impeccable. The brie appetizer is awesome, and the Monica salad with grilled chicken is tasty. Maybe the MS Grill is a little overpriced at lunch ( it's a nice treat ), but I enjoy the excellent service and the atmosphere. I would like to try it for dinner sometime!

    I would like to give a very negative response for anyone who ever wants to eat at the Main Street Grill! While my reservation, which was made through you, and confirmed by you, was favorable, all contacts with the restaurant directly were not and we would never darken their door after the rude behavior of the management person, and then the owner, himself! I cannot believe that any eating establishment would treat a prospective visitor with such behavior with so many wonderful other great restaurants to choose from in the Austin area!!

    We brought friends from out of state and were seated in the vault (an old bank vault) where they store some wines-- very cozy atmosphere. The food and service were excellent. This restaurant is definitely worthy are visiting again.

    Stopped in for lunch on my way to an appointment. Had the Monica salad; it was sloppily plated, did not contain spinach and the chicken was way overcooked. Service was average, and my waitress smelled like cigarette smoke. Definitely will not return.

    My most recent visit was on a quiet Thursday evening and there was MUCH improvement. Service was exceptional and the food from appetizer to dessert was delicious. I REALLY wish I could remember the server's name because he was very good and management needs to know. After a rocky special explanation everything else was perfect. He had an excellent wine presentation, good recommendations and exceedingly accommodating on questions I had about the Port selection (which needs work). It is a big deal for me when a waiter has extensive wine knowledge. STILL, there are numerous typos in the menu and wine list. If you are going to use French in your menu, find someone who reads and writes in French to proofread. Typos take away your credibility.

    Based on my previous review, "why did you go back there?" you ask? A friend was doing me a huge favor and I told her to pick where I took her for lunch. This is where she chose. Bleh. "Ok, Lyla - maybe it'll be different for lunch, maybe the last few times you were disapointed were flukes?" Nope. I ordered the seafood cobb salad, which used to be my favorite lunch item. It used to have a row of shrimp salad lightly tossed in a dressing and a row of crab salad in a different dressing all topped with 3 pr 4 fried avocado slices. It used to be different and interesting. What I got today: some lettuce, a blob of goop (it was shrimp with so much dressing that it looked kind of like thousand island dressing) and 2 little slices of raw avocado. SO disappointing. It's not cheap either. Yucky. I don't know if it's a new chef, new management, or what, but it's just not good anymore. Please friends, if you want to go eat there, do it without me!

    The suburbs do fine dining? Yep, pretty close. I went here tonight with a law school classmate and came away impressed overall from our dining experience. The hostess was warm and professional unlike many of the chain restaurants. In fact, she made us feel like welcome visitors to her home. (Makes me wonder if our hostess might be the owner....) My NY strip was very good (In fact, the red wine glaze with it should be bottled!) and my companion raved about her salad. I'd single out two service glitches which kept them from being a five star (at least in my book) experience. First, my order came out with one of the sides I requested to skip. Our waiter offered to correct the plating error, but it wasn't nearly grave enough to return to the kitchen. Despite my friend and I attempting to have a leisurely dinner (which I so rarely get to enjoy), we both had staff attempt to take away our plates before we were done. A bit of work on fine tuning the service and Round Rock might have a destination restaurant...

    I'll keep this short - Valentine's Day dinner was horrible. Both my husband and I ordered the "filet." I don't know where Main Street Grill gets their beef, but this was the worst filet I have ever had. It was tough and chewy. For $69.00 per person, I expect the filet to be darn good. It was not. The asparagus appetizer was mediocre at best; the salad was just plain boring and uninspired; the desert was a two bite bit of chocolate shaped like a heart. My husband and I left feeling so disappointed, and what should have been a special night, turned out not to be.

    I called to make arrangement for an anniversary dinner I have always enjoyed the food there and the service as well, but this time they dropped the ball , and gave our custom wedding cake topper to someone who asked for cake I mean come in it was white ruffed with a huge petal explosion how could you confuse that .. It's not even about the cake, but about the moment that was ruined forever .. Just saying

    I made reservations for my wife and I, and once the staff found out it was because of our anniversary, they moved us to a private room. This restaurant used to be an old bank. The private room we dined in was actually the old safe which was very thoughtful of the staff. The food was absolutely wonderful!!! I definitely recommend the duck. Overall, if you are looking for an excellent local fine dining experience that's not too expensive- this is the place. Definitely want to return!

    Two words to describe this place: overwhelmingly mediocre. To start our meal, we were served some bread that was only partially cut. Not usually a problem, but I had to wrestle it to cut it. It ended up mangled. It was served with a honey butter, which does not belong on sourdough by any stretch of the imagination./insert shudder here. We had the Warm Spinach and Brie Dip. It was tasty, but not worth $9.95. DH ordered a glass of wine, which was stale, like it had been opened the day before and not stored properly. Our entrees arrived before we had time to finish our appetizer. DH had the Stuffed Pork Chop. The stuffing appeared to be the same stuff as the dip. The meat was overcooked and dry. It came with rustic mashed potatoes- "rustic" must be code for bland and dry. The Green Bean casserole was just some green beans with a couple of token almonds and a layer of melted cheddar cheese. I had the Poisson des Saints. Had the same green beans, but without the toppings. I moved the beans over, and found a puddle of oil under it. The green beans were the same kind you can purchase at HEB in the bulk bin- not even the delicate Haricot Vert that, for the price of the entrée, should have been served. The rice tasted like a boxed mix. The sauce on the fish was absolutely devoid of any flavor. It sounded good on the menu- cognac mustard cream sauce- but none of the flavors were present. It also stated that the sauce had bacon. There were some random sprinkles on top, I'd say less than an inch off of a strip of thin bacon. The only thing on the plate that had any flavor was the bacon, so thanks for the token bit of flavor. This place is waaaaaaaaay overpriced for what they are turning out. When you figure that we could have dined at Jaspers for what we paid, we left feeling very disappointed and angry at ourselves. Honestly, I have had better meals at Denny's.

    My husband and I went for a date night with high expectations. Fairly disappointing I have to say. The appetizer was fine, but the entrees were not so much. They weren't terrible, but not that great. My steak was way overcooked (no pink at all and it was ordered Medium +), but I was so hungry, that I ate most of it before the waiter came back to ask about it. My husband had the gnocchi. The gnocchi was just ok. My husband only had about 1/3 of it and didn't even want to take home the leftovers. The dessert was great though! Bread pudding made with Round Rock donuts! Yum. I don't think we will be back- it was too much of a drive for the disappointment.

    I never knew about this hidden treasure in Round Rock! Everything that we ordered was excellent and so full of flavor. Our server was extremely polite and friendly, and he made sure that we always had everything that we needed. Our server (I wish I remembered his name) made excellent recommendations on the wine, appetizer, entrees, and dessert...all were perfect! We had the crab cake as an appetizer and my mouth still waters as I type this. The special for the night was a scallop plate with rice and brocolli as the sides. I enjoyed every bit of it! I hate to say there was only one negative thing about my visit that made me rate Main Street as a four star instead of five. It was an issue with the hostess, which is the first person you speak to at a restaurant, which means that this person gives the first impression of the establishment. I had called earlier in the day to ask if there was a bar area to enjoy a few drinks before our reservation, and I was told yes and that it would be fine. So we arrived a few minutes early before our reservation, and we were told by the hostess that we were not able to sit at the bar. She said that the bar seats were saved for guests that were not going to be dining, but that she could go ahead and seat us at our table even though we were early. There were plenty of seats available at the bar. I respect their policy but it seems to me that if my guest wanted to enjoy a few drinks at the bar before their reservation, that is what they should be able to do. I didn't want to make a big deal about something so small, so I just informed the hostess that I had called earlier to make sure that this would be okay to do, and she replied rudely that the person who answered the phone was wrong. Again, guests should not have to hear of any conflicts or misunderstandings between the restaurant staff members. Other than this, with the quality of the food and the rest of the service that evening, Main Street was able to turn our bad first impression into a wonderful night! I would definitely recommend this place for the seafood since we didn't try the steak....yet ;) Hopefully we will be trying it again soon!

    As an update, the owner of the establishment contacted me directly to discuss this very review I forward to their email address. I want local business to know what is being said about them as any good owner / manager should. They actively listened while I compared experiences and thanked me for my feedback. Though the owner offered to buy my next meal I declined. I will make time to visit once more and update this review in order to give Main Street time to evaluate and hopefully consider a more active/responsive approach to the front of house issues.

    This is the first time I've been to the Main Street Grill in downtown Round Rock, TX. I needed a nice break with good food, but didn't want the noise that typically accompanies chain restaurants, so I decided to try this restaurant. The atmosphere is very quiet and calming. It's easy to have a conversation there without having to raise your voice, so it's great for business dinners as well as intimate gatherings. The wait staff was knowledgeable, professional, attentive and friendly, without being obtrusive, as an earlier reviewer stated. My waiter, Ryan offered excellent guidance through their menu after I told him I'd never eaten there, and I was thoroughly pleased with the selections. He selected a lovely Pinot Grigio for me, and made sure I was aware of the tartness of some of my food choices when I ordered. I appreciated his comments, since others may have a more subdued palate than I, but I like flavor and was not disappointed. The food was excellent, high quality food with much attention paid to the preparation and presentation. I love thoughtful food presentation, and each course displayed it. I had the Tomato Basil soup for starters. It's prepared with whole tomatos, so it offers texture and flavor. It may have been the best tomato based soup I've had. A bowl would make a very satisfying meal for those who like soup as their main course. My entree was the Filet Elizabeth. The filet was extremely lean, and it's been a long while since I had a medium rare steak prepared so well. Extremely tender, and the Cajun seasonings were complimentary, not overpowering. The polenta is cornmeal and colby jack cheese. "YUM!" I got the Garden Salad with their molassess balsamic vinagrette, a very unusual dressing, but excellent when used in moderation - I left half of it in the serving cup. Any more on the salad would have overpowered the greens, I think. I got the house made Key Lime Pie for dessert, and eventhough Ryan warned me, I was taken aback when my first taste included 2 lime slivers in it! Wow! It was very good, just unexpected. I must admit, I really enjoyed the texture and zing they added to the rest of my dessert. The coffee was steamed, served with a light froth. Nice touch. This place is well worth experiencing for those who have business meetings, visitors from out of town who like a low-key environment, and I imagine it would be a great way to make an impression on a first date, but be forewarned, the atmosphere, service, food, and attention to detail comes with a price, though not an unreasonable one. I know I'll return.

    We went to Main Street Grill for our anniversary and were very impressed. We had never been and will definitely return. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our food rocked. It was better than Eddie V's or Trulucks. We had the trout and Poisson. Amazing! I highly recommend it.

    Well just grind me like pepper on a salad. We have lived in Round Rock for a few years now and never tried Main Street Grill. So I took my wife out for a little romance there this week. Main Street grill is in the downtown area of Round Rock. We arrived around 7pm and found a parking spot right in front of the establishment. Yes every now and then we get lucky, hope the rest of tonight goes as well. Since it was a week night we were seated right away our waiter took our drink orders and we sit back and looked the restaurant over. It is a nice high scale place with cloth covered tables and a full bar in the back. Our waiter was super and answered all our inquires with easy and recommend several items to us. Sourdough bread was served with garlic butter, my wife loved the garlic butter on her bread but I asked for regular butter and got it right away, the bread was very good. We began with a salad that included pecans and fresh strawberries and a cup of Creamy Tomato Basil soup. For our main dishes I ordered the NY Strip steak cooked medium rare it came with Tamale Whipped Potatoes and 3 large stems of asparagus. My wife ordered the Baked Sea Bass it came on top of cooked carrots and celery. Sounds great doesn't it, yummy yummy! The tomato soup was good with a bit of a tang, my wife liked her salad. The steak was cook medium rare as I ordered it, it was good, I don't like asparagus but my wife does and she ate it and liked it. The Tamale potatoes were not for me a little too spicy. The wife loved her Sea Bass. Now for desert I saw on the online menu they had vanilla bean ice cream rolled in pecans topped off with hot fudge and whipped cream. When I asked for it they told me they did not have it and the menu I saw was the old menu that was not their menu anymore I had a wrong website. However they went out of their way and created me the vanilla ice cream covered in pecans with heated chocolate syrup which was excellent, great service here. Overall: great service, great place, good food and great desert. Seems to me the rest of the night went well as could be. The wife was happy so I was happy. Yabba dab a do! Would I go back? Yes on our next special occasion.

    I have been to Main Street Grill a handful of times in the 5 years I've lived in Round Rock, mainly because it's one of the few nicer, non-chain restaurants in town. Each time, I've come away intending to write a review and forgotten to do so, so here I am (finally). My friend and I went for dinner last night - she was able to get last-minute reservations. Apparently, downtown Round Rock (where the restaurant is located) had just finished a centennial celebration festival just minutes before our reservation, so the wait staff told us they'd been unexpectedly "slammed." Mind you, when we walked in at 6:45 pm, there were only 5 or so tables filled, so I'm not sure how that constitutes being slammed. Also, if you know there's a festival planned for right outside your front door for a Saturday, you'd think good management would plan ahead for all the festival goers to potentially come into the restaurant when the festival ended. The food was good, like it's always been each time I've been to Main Street Grill. Not spectacular, but good. Spectacular to me would be Gumbo's (which recently moved to Georgetown from Round Rock) or Bess Bistro. This is definitely a few notches below that. Still, for Round Rock, it's pretty good. To me, the food tasted a bit salty last night, but I cook with very little salt, so it likely wouldn't have tasted that way to most people. What was an issue last night was the service. Never did the restaurant completely fill up, yet they kept saying they were behind due to being slammed by the festival. That didn't excuse some of the service issues, though. We had to ask to be brought bread. My friend wasn't offered fresh ground pepper for her Caesar salad and had to use the shaker on the table. Our wine menu was taken away before we could even look at it. Our salad course was forgotten, and once we reminded our server, it was brought out just minutes before our main course. Then, they tried to take our half eaten salads away before we were finished because the main course had arrived. We had to flag down our server for things numerous times because she didn't come check on us regularly. The final straw was they ran out of bananas, so couldn't make the bananas foster dessert for us (how do you run out of the main ingredient in your signature dessert early on a Saturday night?). Overall, it just seemed like amateur hour service-wise. Of course, I'll go to Main Street Grill again. Like I said before, there simply aren't very many nice, non-chain options in Round Rock. But I sure wish they'd step it up a notch. They certainly aren't afraid to charge high-end prices!

    We were looking for a place closer to home and on a whim decided to find something downtown. After we parked we made the decision to cross the street and dine here. Both of us were expecting a more casual, home type cooking. We were deceived! I ordered the poisson des saints while Tony got the alfredo with blackened chicken. The food was amazing. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived so there was no wait but people started coming in a slow but steady stream after we were seated. I really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and our waiter. She made excellent recommendations and seemed to have a knack for timing her appearances to check on us. Overall, I give it high marks.

    Service was excellent, and dessert was excellent, but i wasn't thrilled with the trout entree I ordered. I have eaten here a few times before with better results, and this meal just wasn't up to par. They have some wonderful salads, and my wife enjoyed their signature salad. Plus, the key lime pie was excellent. We will go back, but I will try something different for the entree.

    I wanted and expected this experience to be so much more. I had come here once before several years ago and I had always told myself I would come back. So with wife in tow for a quiet little date night, we made our way to Main Street Grill. Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was that it was loud and very cold. They apparently had a large party that was causing all the noise and the AC on full blast. Hey, we're all here to eat, drink, and be merry. No harm, no foul. We get seated and we begin to peruse the menu. We both settle on the bone-in ribeye. My wife orders hers grilled while I chose the blackened option. I also decided to substitute the creamed spinach for vegetable medley. So the order is taken to the kitchen around 8... maybe 8:05. We don't see or here from our server until almost 8:30. Not a word. Didn't stop by to see how we were doing or to give us an update on the food. Nothing. Radio freaking silence. Luckily, she wasn't in charge of our water. The lady responsible for that aspect of our meal was impeccable. Finally, I flag her down and ask her what the situation was with our food. She didn't know so she went to find out. It wasn't really that hard to figure out. The kitchen fell WAY behind because of that large group that was here before us. Again, that stuff happens - we're reasonable people. What irked me the most is that she never bothered to come by to let us know. Alas, the food arrives. Well prepared food can wash away all of your service sins... or you can do us like Perla's did and serve us crap. Yep... you guessed it, they served us crap. Couple of observations about the food: 1. My blackened steak wasn't very blackened. Sure, it was dusted with blackened seasoning... but the steak itself had a very bland, barely broiled appearance. Very disheartening because the idea behind blackening is well... blackening. Seems intuitive, no? 2. Creamed spinach wasn't anything like the thick creamy goodness that you expect from a steakhouse creamed spinach. No, this was literally cooked whole leaf spinach in cream. Soup-like texture that just seemed to swallow up the entire plate. Just plain awful. Glad I substituted for the medley. My wife was not so fortunate. 3. Quality of the meat was sub-par especially at $27 per steak. Don't serve something thats stringy and full of gristle. As Alton Brown would say, that's not good eats. This will come across as harsh, but I wouldn't have even given scraps of this to my dogs. I'll wrap this up with two more observations on the experience: 1. They used cheap IKEA lights to decorate the interior and apparently one of the rows of lights was shorting out. That meant they would go off and on periodically... gave the atmosphere a kind of a poor-man's rave feel to it. For dinner? Terribly annoying. 2. Pet peeve #383 - take-out boxes have a designated top and bottom. Seems obvious, no? Don't put all of the leftovers into the top half of the container and then just close it. It's UPSIDE DOWN. Not a big deal except when there's cream from the damned soupy creamed spinach sloshing around in there. When used correctly, these boxes are designed to have a lip so that any moderate amount of liquid stays IN the box. In summary, the rating is equal parts food and service failure. Without question, one of the more disappointing meals that I've had in a long time.

    This place was a special occasion spot for my wife and I before we moved away. Love, love, love it. Shrimp Diablo entree or the steak...dig in and enjoy. For dessert the Express Curveball is a solid night cap.

    Wanting to do something different for Valentines Day we decided to give Main Street Grill a try after seeing an ad on TV for their Valentines set menu. The menu sounded delicious and we were excited to finally try this restaurant that we've walked past so many times. We received such a warm greeting from the host. Our server introduced herself and took our order. We decided on the Prawn and Carpaccio starters, followed by Osso Buco and Lamb mains. We declined wine, but were surprised when our server didn't offer us anything else from the bar, or in fact any soft drinks. The water was constantly refreshed and we found that we didn't need anything else to drink. The prawns arrived and it was immediately obvious to the naked eye that 2 of the 6 had not been properly cleaned we left these on the plate. The Carpaccio Salad was quite good. When mains arrived we discovered that the server had brought Osso Bucco and Duck L'Orange (not what I ordered). The Duck was ok, the Osso Buco was very good. We were one of the first tables to arrive, when we received our mains (at around 6pm) the restaurant was still not very full and I certainly didn't feel that our server was rushed. She should certainly have picked up that the meal she delivered was not the meal I ordered. Pluses: fabulous ambience, great bread and water service, the food is imaginative and (mostly) quite tasty. A little more attention to detail and I think they might be on to something.

    Sorry but from my first (and more than likely, last) experience here, I would not put this in the category of a 5-star, upscale, restaurant. I will start off by saying most of what we had was pretty good once we ironed out most of the kinks. For starters, the menu is way overpriced for the quality and presentation of the food, the professional image and personality you expect from the waiter in a fine dining establishment also fell short, and let's not even talk about the below average, tired looking interior, or that amateur sounding 2 man band they call "live music". I first ordered the Pan Seared lamb but they were out of lamb and so I ordered my 2nd choice of the Filet Elizabeth. I always order my meats WELL DONE with not even an ounce of pink showing since it makes me physically ill to see or taste bloody, or even half cooked meats. My husband ordered the special of the night which was prime rib. He also asked for the more caramelized, well done, end piece. Since we wanted to have the full culinary experience of this restaurant in order to make a proper and fair assessment, we also ordered the Asian duck spring rolls. The springroll appetizer was served, and we both got excited about how tasty the crusty, brown, springroll wrap looked, especially surrounded by this interesting red sauce. This was.......until I took the first bite. I was thankful I had a huge cloth napkin so I could get rid of this god awful taste out of my mouth before I threw up. I practically had to wipe the inside of my mouth with my napkin to fully get rid of that after taste. I don't know if it was the sauce or the springroll wrap, or what was on the inside of this spring roll, but the god awful taste overloaded my taste senses and turned my stomach. I can't put my finger on the taste to truly describe it. The best description I can think of would be it tasted like the entire appetizer was fried in rancid fish oil since it left a fishy, raw, aftertaste in my mouth. Something was fishy or rancid. I explained my awful experience with this appetizer to our water and asked if they used old fish oil to prepare this appetizer. To our waiter's credit, he showed good customer service and took it off our bill. Then our entrees came and I tried to hide my initial shock at the miniscule 3"x3"portion size of my Filet Elizabeth, the "2" lonely stalks of asparagus, and about a tablespoon of polenta. Mind you, this was a $33 entree. My husband's prime rib portion size was more reasonable, and more in line with what we expected. We cut into our meats and immediately there was a pool of blood on both our plates. My husband's prime rib looked like it was completely RAW on the inside! So...they had to take our meats back to the kitchen to get cooked like we originally asked. Our waiter was again very apologetic and tried to save the evening by pouring us both a complimentary glass of the wine we were drinking. I thought that was a nice touch. The entree themselves were actually very good after we finally got our "well done" meats back to us. We shared the turtle cheesecake for dessert and they finally scored some points on that one. It had the right density and was rich, creamy, and delicious. For after dinner drinks we also decided to try the espresso martini for something different. That was also pretty good. Overall, this restaurant experience was not the most terrible experience I've ever had. However, my expectations are very high when a restaurant poses as a 5 star restaurant with the higher priced entrees, dimly lit interior, & so called "live music." This restaurant is more on the average scale, and in much need of a huge makeover as far as 5-star ambiance goes. Until that happens, I have no intention of returning.

    I never knew about this place untel I randomly found it online.. I desided to take a date there I had reservations for 8:30 and due to my driver showing up late we didn't get there untel 9:00 witch is the time the kitchen closed. They where still happy to seat us and take our order. It's was one of the most amazing meals I have had in a LONG time in round rock or Austin . This place is not cheap but it was worth the extra money for sure ! This is going to be my new spot it will be yours also I'm sure . Thank you Main street grill for the awesome experience! I will be back

    Went to Main street grill of a Tuesday night. There was only one other table there. Asked for a glass of Riesling (I'm no wine connoisseur but it was terrible. Gin and tonics were great though. Dinner was delicious we had shrimp and spring roles for apps , trout and stuffed pork for entrees. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. We also had awesome desserts icecream with a wafer and chocolate sauce. It was a truly delicious meal. Afterwards we went to the new wine bar bistro directly across the street for a drink. Both places very nice and will go back to both again.

    I don't typically post a review unless a restaurant is really bad or very good. We're new to Round Rock and even though I was planning on taking the family downtown to Perry's, after reading reviews on Yelp, Austin360 & Urbanspoon and checking out their menu online, I decided to try this local place. The folks at Main Street Grill served up a delightful dinner for my family of six. As far as we're concerned, all previous reviews of 4 stars or less are simply wrong. From the beginning, the experience was awesome. Our server, Ryan, was warm, well prepared, helpful with suggestions and timely. The rest of the waitstaff was prompt and friendly as well. The fresh baked sourdough and sweetened butter was warm, delicious and on the table in under a minute. We had the fried avocado and warm spinach and brei dip for appetizers and everyone love them. Each of our meals were beautiful to the eye, flavorful and perfectly prepared. My wife ordered the Dowtown Duo and she enjoyed all exept the blue cheese mashed potatoes were just a little too blue-cheesey for her taste. But, she loved my garlic mashed potatoes and will make that simple switch next time. Ryan's wine suggestion was a very nice pairing. My teenaged daughter (15 going on 25) ordered the filet with buerre rouge, pepper-jack polenta and asparagus and said the filet and asparagus were the best she'd every had. That's not easy for me to hear as I consider myself an above average grill chef but, I'll just have to raise my filet cooking game. My youngest daughter (8) ordered the kid's chicken strips and it was fresh and delicious as well. My two boys (11 and 10) split the stuffed port chop and they LOVED it! I ordered the Banker's ribeye medium rare, with creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. A simple dish that's hard to screw up. My steak was excellent. Trimmed just right to ensure it was tender, juicy and delicious without being too fatty. I like my ribeye a little closer to rare and the chef nailed it! I'm a bit of creamed spinach snob and very tough to please. If I had to guess, I'd say my creamed spinach was prepared fresh with whole spinach and heavy cream very close to meal time. It showed no signs of having over simmered.. This was hands down, the best creamed spinach I've had. At least 2 stars above Flemings', LG's or Lawry's. My glass of Maker's Mark on the rocks washed it down and left me feeling warm, satisfied and happy. We had New York Cheesecake, key lime pie and chocolate tort with raspberry sauce. All three were prepared fresh in house. The flavors and textures were exquisite! Although it's at the upper end of our price range, we'll be back as soon as we can. If you're looking for a great meal with great service, go to Round Rock's Main Street Grill. We'd give 6 out of 5 starts if we could. WM

    Quasi-business dinner on a very quiet Monday night. Wait staff was very attentive since only 5-6 tables were filled. Could not offer the 5th star for a couple of reasons. First, no anchovies for their Ceasar salad. The dressing was nice, but salty anchovies are required. Second, the deep fried polenta was not fresh. Not that I want to be a polenta snob, but growing up eating San Francisco Italian makes me a polenta snob. It took two bites and a quick consult with the waiter to confirm. Bottom line: salad was OK, steak was well prepared, asparagus well cooked (not limp), key lime pie was tangy. Perfect for a $20 meal - but it cost more than $40. Solid 4 stars -- because I did not have to pay the hefty bill.

    The quality was fine, but not worth a second trip. And this was our second trip. I heard they like to tout themselves as a 5-star, but sadly no. No 5-star I've been to has a TV in the restaurant. Well, it's in the bar, but the bar is in the restaurant. And, if you're 5-star... who's the chef? That's usually an important detail. Never saw him/her come out to the tables. There aren't enough restaurants that take reservations, but this place does! I'm a local, and are willing to drive some distance for a great meal. I've never met one person who absolutely raved about this place. Verbal reviews regularly include Monica's salad as a must-have, but nothing else. I expect to-die-for food for 5-star, and this wasn't it. If you can't normally afford to eat here, should you save your money to go back? No, go to someplace like Wink in Austin. Just like with reviewer Mike C. - our blackened food was blackened by seasoning and not by cooking method. Yes, Monica's salad is yuuuuuummy! As was my soup. Other than that, the food was good, but not great. Certainly not worth the tab. Oddly enough, for a steakhouse, no one at our table ordered one. We asked the guy at the next table how his steak was, he said 'okay.' The hostess (lady with curly hair) was great and our server, J, was fab. Seemed like it was an 'everybody-does-everything' kind of place. There was a fuss over a couple getting engaged. I can see how you might want to do that here. The idea of dining in the bank vault is kind of cool. If you want to check it out, go for lunch.

    I had been waiting for my fiance to come back from Afghanistan so that we could try this place, and I'm so disappointed. We'd been thinking that this would be a great place to hold our rehearsal dinner - but NO WAY. It's a small restaurant but I was thinking that it was a little more upscale because of the prices I saw on the menu prior to making a reservation. Anyway, Brian was our server (I'm pretty sure that was his name). He seemed really nervous but I pegged that to him being new perhaps. My fiance and I ordered a bottle ($46) of an Oregon Pinot Noir. The waiter filled the glasses way too high (over half full) so that's why I got the notion that he was new and not just because of the nervousness. I ordered the broccoli soup for an appetizer and it was extremely bland. Didn't taste like much of anything other than flour and it was lumpy. I also had to add salt to it (which I NEVER have to do). For our meals, we both ordered the special, which was the ribeye steak with mushroom sauce and two prawns. It came with potatoes augratin and steamed broccoli. The steak was so fatty that I literally could not complete one bite, and it was only mildly warm. The shrimp came on kebab sticks but were impossible to remove so you had to eat it off the stick, and again were only warm. The heads were intact as well, which I guess was for presentation sake but was totally disgusting to have to remove it myself because the chef did not clean out the carcass. The broccoli was ice cold and the potatoes were again bland and needed salt. When our waiter FINALLY came back around close to 15 minutes later to find out if everything was alright I explained to him that I did not like any of it, so I ended up with the strawberry spinach salad with candied walnuts and blue cheese. It wasn't bad except for the dressing that was as thick as molasses. I guess we're going to stick with what we know and love for our rehearsal dinner, and that's III Forks!

    This is a great place for a nice night out. Food is always cooked perfectly, the specials change and the service is prompt and knowledgable. Get the Monica's salad, it's divine. Pecans and strawberries and bleu cheese and balsamic vinagrette dressing. You can get some chicken on it too if you want a dinner salad, but whatever else, get that salad.

    Don't waste your money here. This was our second sub par dining experience. We were hoping last time we went maybe they were having an off night. Sadly, that is not the case. The bread was a disappointment. We got two different fish dishes. One was just ok and the other was extremely salty. We ordered the key lime pie for dessert and it was not good. The coffee was luke warm at best. When we told the server, they made a fresh pot. It was the same luke warm temp. The server did not once ask how our meal was even though he should have with the amount of food left on our plates. If I was at chili's I wouldn't expect them to care, but for the price you pay here I expected better. We went on a Saturday night and there was only one other table occupied when we arrived. While we were there maybe 4 more tables came. That should have been a clear sign. This place use to be good. Now it seems like they just don't care. The Monica's salad was great, but overall you do not get what you pay for anymore. The French Quarter Round Rock is excellent, go there instead. We were mad at ourselves for not taking our own advice.

    I used to love Main Street Grill. My husband and I ate there every month at least 2 or 3 times a month. The chef made incredible soup, and there was a dish called "Horseradish encrusted Lamb Loin" that I ALWAYS got. You make call me unadventurous, but it was so delicious, and such a rare taste, that I don't care. Unfortunately they switched management and chefs recently. The food is still good. They took my favorite dish off of the menu, however, and the soup is not quite as good as it once was. The staff is great, though. My husband works on Fort Hood as a contractor, and was there when that man shot all those people. It took him 4 hours to get off base. By the time he got home, I was so happy to have him with me, I decided to take him to Main Street Grill to celebrate him being ok. When we got there, the waiter gave us the room in the Vault, which used to be a bank Vault but now holds a fantastic wine selection. It was really sweet of him, and really made a bright spot in a tough, dark day. We both got the Monica Salad. It is the best salad I've ever eaten. I will say, though I am disappointed about my old chef being gone, this salad is a must try. As far as price goes, Main Street used to be worth it. Now, I'm not so sure. The price is OK for the quality of food you get, but it's not exceptionally cheap (hence us now only going about 1 time a month or less).

    So much food so little time. I will definitely come back to this place. The location is in downtown Round Rock in an old bank building and when you call to reserve a table, ask for the vault room to have a special dining experience in....we didn't do that. Started with the poblano cheesecake appetizer (cheesecake app??). It was really good. A whipped roasted pablano mixed with cotija cheese and cream and cooled to form a cheesecake looking pate almost...served with bread...the cheesecake was great but could do without the bread...maybe pita or foccaccia would of been better. I had the jalapeno bisque and Uncle had the tomato basil soups, they were both outstanding. Caesar was heavy anchovy which I like but may turn others off. Wife had the Filet with Gorgonzola crust. A very very tender steak cooked perfectly perfect. I would get that anytime...only 6oz so perfect for light eater (my wife) I had lamb chops. Actually to be exact they are lamb shoulder chops and not rib chops. So if you are expected Rib Chops they are not those. This is a really good place to eat and i think from all the reviews, you can safely order anything and it will be pretty good. I will visit MSG many more times in the future.

    Diner here last night. This was the 3rd time I have been to Main Street Grill, the first two times were several years ago. My previous experiences were just ok, but last nights meal was excellent. All 4 in our party enjoyed their meals. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive and very familiar with both the menu and the wine list. I would definitely go back.

    What a nice place! This restaurant occupies the space of a former bank, in fact, the bank safe is used for wine storage. We went for lunch and were generally pleased. The wait staff is very professional and genuinely nice. Had two bloody marys, both seasond to our indvidual tastes, My wife had the "French dip" sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the "Pastrami ruben" and while I ate every bite, I had some criticism about the preparation. I used to own and operate what had been a Kosher deli in MA. so I know a little about how pastrami should be presented. The pastrami in this case had been grilled and a little too long at that. The result was a bacon like texture sort of crispy. It wasn't bad tasting, just not what one would expect. The swiss cheese, the kraut and the dressing were also (I think) were done on the grill as well. We also had cups of excellent coffee and two desserts. My wife had "The best key lime pie ever" and I had the curve ball express ice cream dessert, also excellent. We do intend to go there for dinner soon.

    I have eaten at MS Grill several times and have enjoyed each experience. Today, however, was very disappointing. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was served over cooked, overly ripe tomatoes and a bun that was either stale or over heated? I should have sent it back. A high end restaurant should be able to put out delicious hamburger, or take it off the menu.

    I ate here again a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed my meal.... It's actually a pretty good little resturaunt especially for Round Rock where the chain resturaunt is king. If you live in Round Rock I would definitly come here for a nice meal out. If you don't live near then I wouldn't bother making a big trip to visit.

    My husband and I LOVE this place. The food is always prepared to perfection. The wait staff is superb and attentive. The menu changes but I never fail to find something amazing. The one and only time we ever had a problem, it was with a creme brulee. The chef personally came out and apologized and offered me a new one, I declined, but he took it off our tab. The next time we went in, he remembered me and gave BOTH my husband and myself free dessert. Now that's classy!

    Very nice place to have lunch. Cool and funky - service is good - food is excellent. Very laid back and in the old section of Round Rock. I had the pork sandwich and my companion had the chicken friend chicken. Both were great.

    I used to going to this restaurant for lunch only because I worked in Round Rock too. And I only like their Monica's Salad on lunch menu. Especially the strawberry in salad. One of my coworker told me Monica worked for Dell too. Don't know if it's the rumor since there are so many women called Monica. I felt hungry while shopping in Sprout's and decided to drive here for dinner since it's nearby. It was packed on Saturday night. And 95% of customers have grey hair. The restaurant design is old fashion. But it doesn't matter, the hostess and waitress were very nice to us. I ordered creamy tomato soup which is very tasty. It totally warmed me up at a cold night. 5 stars. I ordered crab cake for appetizer which is too bready and filled with too much corns too. I don't like corns that much. 2 stars. I ordered lamb chops medium rare for entree which is very tender and juicy. I like it a lot. But not much on the side dish asparagus which is bland, no flavor at all. 4 stars The waitress came to talk to us for many times. I will give 4 stars for the service.

    One-line: Good food, good drinks, great ambiance, fantastic service, just not worth it for the price, in my book. The wife had the Filet Elizabeth, which was cooked correctly at medium-rare, but chewier than it should have been. Good flavor, only problem is that a Fillet Mignon should never be chewy unless you order it well done (ugh)... I had Veal Marsala. Just for reference, I was raised on Italian food, with a grandmother that made perfect veal every time. So, the veal was not pounded thin, it was probably 3/8 in thick, and chewy. (One of the reasons you pound it...) The Marsala sauce tasted like beef gravy. Not at all like what marsala should taste like. Although to be fair, it had a decent flavor, just not Veal Marsala... Finally, the drinks. Some of the best Mexican Martini's around, although that could be attributed to the bartender (our waitress) as well. All in all, good, but not great.

    Overall: Main St Grill is located in the historic downtown Round Rock and has very good food, service, and ambiance. A solid choice! Food (8/10) (7/10) Monica's Salad Crisp romaine lettuce, baby spinach, radicchio, fresh strawberries, blue cheese crumbles, sugar roasted pecans and with a maple balsamic vinaigrette. One can get chicken, shrimp or salmon added to this salad for an extra fee. This was a decent sized, fresh salad. The lettuce and spinach were good, and they included the right amount of blue cheese crumbles. We were disappointed to find very few strawberry pieces. The roasted pecans added a nice crunch, and the balsamic vinaigrette complemented the salad well. (8/10) Filet Elizabeth A petite filet mignon dusted in Cajun spices, topped with gorgonzola gratin, and set in rich Beurre rouge with pepper jack polenta and asparagus. We ordered the 6 oz. filet cooked medium-rare, but it came out medium instead. We didn't complain since it was tender, moist, and delicious. The spices and the sauce complemented the filet very well. The gorgonzola was so overpowering that we had to remove most of it. The polenta was an interesting addition. It added spice and crunch to the dish, but tasted just okay. The asparagus was crisp and cooked just right. This is an above average filet mignon that is worth getting! (9/10) Flourless Chocolate Torte Peruvian chocolate cake drizzled with white chocolate, with blackberry compote and whipped cream. This item was not on the dessert menu, but was a special that day. All we can say is, wow! This mouthwatering dessert will put you in heaven. The chocolate is rich and scrumptious. Have you ever had a dessert and wished you had a glass of milk or ice cream with it? You won't with this one since it is so moist and perfect. The side of whipped cream was a nice touch, but they skimped on the fresh strawberry again by giving only one thin sliver. Until this dessert is on their standard menu, we will be calling ahead before dining here to make sure they are serving it that day. Service (8/10) We dined at Main Street Grill for dinner on a Friday. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess and taken directly to a table. Almost immediately, a server filled our waters and left warm bread on our table. We thought this was a nice touch rather than waiting to serve bread until after patrons place their order. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The dishes came out in a timely manner and the waiter checked on us regularly. Our dining experience here was wonderful until we found a large strand of red hair in the side of hot fudge that we ordered with dessert. We showed it to the waiter and proceeded to remove the dessert from the bill. This is usually the standard procedure in restaurants, but we were glad that it went smooth and effortlessly. Overall, the service was sociable and professional. Ambiance (7/10) Main Street Grill is located in the historic downtown Round Rock. Over the years, a number of businesses have occupied this space, including a general store, a newspaper, a bank, and now a restaurant. The exterior is unassuming, but inside you will find a mix of casual and fine dining. There is one main dining area that is separated down the middle by a high-back booth. The tables have candles and white linen table clothes that give an upscale vibe. But there are also salt and pepper shakers on the tables that take it down a notch. The walls are decorated with paintings of nature. Patrons have the choice of sitting at standard tables, as well as booth and chair hybrids. There is also a large full-service bar in the rear of the restaurant where patrons can relax and watch a sporting event. One indication of the restaurant's history is the presence of a bank vault. Main Street Grill converted the vault into a combination wine cellar - private dining room. If you are looking for the most privacy, request a table in the vault for the ultimate romantic experience. This restaurant is good for couples as well as small groups. There is limited street parking available, but patrons can use the free parking garage a block away. If you are looking for wonderful food, solid service, and a casually-upscale atmosphere, stop by Main Street Grill for lunch or dinner!

    I have been going here for years, and for a period of time it was my go-to date with hubby place. Sadly, we don't feel the same way anymore. Was there last weekend and the waiter seemed as if he'd rather be getting a root canal than wait a table. I ordered what I always order, the filet Elizabeth, and it was sorely lacking. The plate looked like I had 4 asparagus spears, but alas they were just cut down the middle and made to look like it was four instead of 2 cut in half. The food was NOT horrible....it is still better than a lot of places, but compared to the way it USED to be, it's just not the same. Apparently now you have to actually ask for bread, instead of it being served automatically once you order. And when I inquired about the bread the way the waiter delivered the message to me that "you now have to ask for it", left no room for wondering how he felt about it. Overall, just sorely disappointed in how this restaurant is not up to par the way it used to be several years ago. It has been on a steady decline and I fear is continuing on that path.

    Beware that the majority of the tables are within a few feet of each other, so you can have the pleasure of listening to many conversations except your own.... I have been to this restaraunt serveral times with mixed reviews. I figured I would give another shot, but was dissapointed and will not be back. Price and quality of the food was marginal, the wine list was small with few selections and the wine I selected was from the incorrect region. It was a saturday night and not too busy, but it still took over 10 minutes for a waiter to offer a drink. If you are in downtown Round Rock, I would suggest Crave or Louisiana Longhorn.

    Main street grill is one of my favorite finds! I originally called to see if they were a better steak place than a chain, and they did not lie, which is great. I get to eat around the AUS area and I've been here three times now. Each time, mid-week and after 7:30pm, so the place was slightly cleared out. I've had great service there as a result, which is also nice. I always feel relaxed here. I've had two steaks and duck breast - all very good. They season the steaks, which I prefer, and they did a great job. Also, I asked for M-R just to the M side and they did it great. The sides are also really good. Their drinks are well-done also. The desserts are also great, but would prefer at least one more lactose-free item - I've had sorbet and parts of their Key Lime pie. The decor is very tasteful and grown-up and the building is an old bank, with vault. Based on other reviews, I am happy that my MSG experiences have been great.

    Removing one star as I went to visit these guys last week. I made the mistake of ordering the burger instead of the awesome fried chicken sandwich. The burger was overcooked (I ordered medium-well and got a hockey puck with fake grill flavor) and dry. It was NOT the burger I remember from months/years past. They USED to serve thick, juicy burgers. Now they serve thin, dry ones. Fries are still good, although their portion sizes seem to be inconsistent - I got about 15 of them, and my lunch companion was served a platefull. Anyway - the rest of my comments still stand - this is an American Grill with some pretty nice food. Lunch is NOT pricey. Dinner can be, but makes for a nice splurge at a locally owned restaurant. Service has improved - no bad attitudes, but sometimes is slow. As always, the water lady was really doing her job making sure none of us got dehydrated. I truly can't stay away from their fried chicken sandwich - it is still the bomb. Salads are always good (not just the over-rated "Monica's Salad"). Soup of the day - almost always cream-based, so I usually pass, although they really are yummy. Main Street Grill - keep on making good food, and I'll keep dropping by, especially at lunch so I don't break the bank. In the future, however, I'll stay away from your burger. So sad.

    Awesome food, I took my brother and his wife here when they were in town for a family wedding. I had been here twice before and thought the food was great both times, as indeed it was this time as well. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. Very elegant, I liked the quiet ambiance. I did not think I liked balsamic vinegar but the honey - balsamic vinaigrette is to die for!!! Out of this world!

    I went to Main Street a couple of weeks back with a large party of family members. We selected it because some of the party were coming from Round Rock and we didn't want them to drive so far. It was Saturday night and the place was pretty empty. Made me wonder if fine dining can really work that far north. The drinks were fine and the service was solid, if not spectacular. Given that the place was pretty dead and we were a large party (12), I expected to be waited on hand and foot. I was surprised at how long it took to get the food out after the salads. It made me question whether the kitchen could handle a busy night. The reason for the four star rating was the food which really exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Poisson des Saints which is their nightly fresh fish special. This evening it was drum served with a creole pilaf and green beans. The fish is served with sauteed shrimp, lump crab, scallops and a mustard cream sauce. Everything on the plate was excellent. A fish dish like this can be easily screwed up, and in hindsight, I wonder if the kitchen had to re-do some dishes given the time it took. The kids had the filet Elizabeth which I didn't try but I did steal some of their asparagus side. Again, asparagus can easily go wrong however this place produced it perfectly and simply in butter with lemon juice and pepper. My wife had the lamp chops which were also excellent. I was on the fence with the Asian duck spring rolls which were prepared in a sauce with a very strong tea flavor. Still, it was a clever and original attempt. I'm just not sure it succeeded. The kids had dessert and I sampled both the turtle cheesecake (very good though I'm not much for cheesecake) and the chocolate tort (fantastic). I was really expecting to be disappointed by Main Street Grill. It just seemed like the type of provincial place with pricy options that couldn't deliver. The service is a tad amateurish, the ambiance isn't anything to remember (too dark), and the food took too long to come out. The food however, with very little exception, was terrific.

    I took my 3 year old daughter here before we went to the Daddy/Daughter dance at her school. We had a blast! The food here was really good, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate my young date for the evening. She dined on chicken fingers, steamed broccoli and fresh strawberries. She loved every bite of it. Top notch spot for me. I will be back!

    So my friend said he had a restaurants.com gift certificate to main street grill in Round Rock. The name brought to mind a greasy spoon. Neither of us had any idea that it was a fine dining/steakhouse. The Service was tremendous, I think our waiters name was Jason. The decor was upscale and elegant. The food was really really good, but there was nothing under $20.00. I think the food was great, but not for the price. Wont go again except for maybe a special occasion, but I'm gonna give it a four just because of the food and service.

    If you're ever in the mood for an upscale dinner with a small town feel, Main Street in the old bank building is the place to go. Every SINGLE time I've eaten there with my father, he has told and retold stories about his years in middle school when he and friends would run by the bank window and shout "stick em up" to the banker who would quickly shove lollipops through the bank slot. Though I'm sure kids couldn't get away with those kinds of shennanigans these days, Main Street lets you feel right at home while still cooking up some serious cuisine. Regulars are crazy about the Monica Salad, and the tomato bisque is also worth noting. Though I'm not much of a beef-eater myself, I've heard great things about the Filet Elizabeth. I often get a fish dish, all of which have been great. If you're in the mood for dessert, I suggest heading just next door to Louisiana Longhorn Cafe for their sinful bread pudding.

    Main Street Grill is incredible! The diiner atmosphere is intimate, the food is delicious, wine selection pretty good. This is my favorite place to get a steak in the Austin area! Start with the Monica's Salad (for 2 people, split the large so you can save room-it gets better!) The Filet Elizabeth is to DIE for-always cooked perfectly topped with gorgonzola-yum. Creme brulee or Bananas Foster for dessert! We have never had anything off the menu that we didn't love. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive. For a special treat, call to reserve the vault for private dining experience.

    My husband took me here on a fancy date once. It's located in a quaint little old-timey downtown area of Round Rock. That was so cute. We easily found a parking spot on the street, and walked in. Our reservation allowed us to be seated immediately. The food and service were good. They maintain a formality here, so you might want to dress up in order to feel comfortable. I had a vegetable pasta dish that was pretty good. We were so bowled over that we went back, but it was good to try, and I imagine we'd be more likely to return if we lived in Round Rock.

    I guess my overall impression of Main Street Grill would be disappointment. The building is nice, outside and in. The staff is polite and attentive. The decor is elegant, classy, with a bit of a modern flair. The main dining room is pretty small, but not crowded. The vault room is a nice way to get a "special occasion" feel. Unfortunately, the food doesn't live up to the setting. The appetizers are fine. The Savory Green Chile Cheesecake was a nice twist on crackers and cheese. The Caesar salad was rather spicy, and featured a generous helping of pre-packaged shredded cheese and out-of-the-box croutons. The tomato basil soup was OK, for canned. The entrees were the big letdowns. The prime rib was greyish and tasteless, like it had been kept standing too long and heated in a microwave. The horseradish encrusted lamb was gamey, with an overpowering beef gravy and only the occasional hint of horseradish. The mashed potatoes that seem to come with everything were thoroughly ordinary, and blending in some cheese can only help so much. Finally, the creme brulee was good enough, nicely crispy on top, but mostly tasteless underneath, and served in a shallow dish so that the custard underneath was warmed by the carmelizing. I'm not a wine expert, but the wine list seemed fairly short, and undistinguished to me. Fortunately, there are a lot of good wines out there these days, and we were able to find a couple, so I can't really complain in this department. All in all, we had hoped for much better, from a place with this setting, and at this price. It might be a nice enough place to go if somebody else is paying, and you are really looking for atmosphere more than the food, but I don't think we'll be back soon.

    this is another fine dining resturant in downtown round rock which was once a bank building.they make great salads and sandwiches along witht the pasta st gorgio.try to dine in the bank vault its a experience,dress is a little nicer in the avg lunch spot so you wont see people in jeans and t shirts.
